I’m browsing Craigslist for cheap cars but I have to click on ridiculous ones obviously. This one struck me as a bit much and I don’t know what to think.

I would buy it and take it to MG club meetings just to screw with people.

I don’t think this would bother most MG people.

You say screw with them but I can’t think of an owner’s club that would be more accepting of an engine swap.

This is pretty sweet. And also something I’ve put serious thought into doing myself, so as to have another fun reliable DD that burns much less fuel than my Bronco.

Not exactly like this, but just a more modern 4 banger in an old light roadster.

So this but a lot cheaper and the roadster not the GT.

That’s pretty awesome. I just assumed that they’re idiot engine purists like Jag owners (myself very much included).

What about the bodywork, though?

You’ve never met an MG owner before have you? They are easily the nicest car people and by some considerable distance, they’re just so giddy about everything. Seriously puppies and MG enthusiasts should be given to people with too much stress who need to chill out.

Yeah basically. Though I wouldn’t be opposed to a GT either. It’s just that British roadsters are far more common.

They are the people that are fine with 302 swaps.

I want an MGB with an Ecoboost myself. It wouldn't be super hard to do I just don't have the cash to take it on.

That's what mainly got me. The wide body threw me off.

I have mixed feelings on that. Normally I would agree. However I'm still not sure about this example.

Vaguely reminds me of the Honda S600 that was on Jay Leno’s garage a few months ago that had a liter bike engine in it. Thing was wicked cool.

I agree, it looks a little weird in this application. I’d have to let the drive be the decider.

Not to mention I watched this earlier today(I find the rear on this to be too much) so in comparison, this mg is pretty damn timid:

I’ve thought about an ecoboost, it would be great but one of the pricier options. I’m thinking a drivetrain from a small truck may be the cheapest and easiest. Anything mid 90's on would be a great improvement in both power and economy.

I'm thinking a wrecked Focus can be had for $2-$3k and parts sold should knock that down quite a bit. I think the controller Ford sales is $1500 or so(aftermarket runs around the same to reprogram the one that would come with the car I believe). Or both off the shelf in a package runs $6k plus a transmission and bell housing adapter. So yeah the dollars can add up quickly. I still like the idea though.
